Dear Friends, Family, Kind individuals and investors.
We are reaching out to you during this challenging time seeking funds to help us get to the finish line in opening our Caribbean restaurant. Replacing a beloved restaurant that has been closed due to COVID 19. As we prepare to open, we aim to bring back the vibrant Flavors and cultural experience that our community missed. Our previous restaurant was more than just a place to eat, it’s a place where families, friends, and community groups gather to enjoy authentic Caribbean cuisine. Closing of our restaurant has left nursing home residents within the community and the community without the nutritious meals that reminded them of their Caribbean roots, leaving a void in both nutrition and nostalgia. This closure has been particularly difficult for those who long for the familiar Flavors of home, reopening our doors will restore a sense of familiarity and joy to their lives.
A few years ago, we had a restaurant which survived for 18 months due to COVID 19. When the Pandemic hit us in Queens New York where we were located, we had to close our doors. This Pandemic poses so much fear that people were lock down for over 2 years. In this area are millions of Caribbean people and over 80 Nursing homes. One of our memories of having this restaurant was the pleasure of keeping the Caribbean heritage alive. We were located close to four nursing homes and every day we will receive calls from patients in the nursing home ordering their foods. Several patients indicated “we are happy your restaurant is here because we do not like the foods being served at the nursing home.” Some days some patients send their family members to purchase food since they were not allowed to leave the nursing home. There were 10 particular patients in wheelchairs who were granted special passes once per week and would wheel over to the restaurant together in their chairs to purchase their meals. On days they were unable to come we will arrange free delivery to get their meals to them. The impact of COVID 19 not only forced us to close the previous short-lived restaurant but disrupted the routines of many nursing home residents and community members who depended on our meals for both nourishment and emotional comfort. With the reopening of our restaurant, we can begin to restore a sense of normalcy, providing meals and a place for people to once again feel a part of the community. We are planning to reopen our doors in 3 months but has hit a roadblock where we require working capital, as a result, we are hoping that individuals out there will help us to get to this finish line. Your generous donation will go directly to help open our new restaurant to serve our Caribbean community and put a smile on the home-bound, and nursing home patients in our area providing them with a taste of the Caribbean. Your support will make a direct positive impact on our restaurant and the community we serve.
