Hi I'm raising funds for my parents to start a new life in US. They recently escaped from the war zone in Ukraine. They escaped bombing and essentially death. They traveled for almost 20 hours in a small bus to get from their home town Sumy to Lviv. Then they waited for 6 hours in a cold weather for another bus to take them across the border to a small town Medyka in Poland. I flew from Charlotte via NY, Amsterdam to Warsaw and drove straight 5 hours to Medyka to pick them up. They were exhausted and so happy to be alive and to have shower/warm meal and finally rest. Then we drove back to Warsaw, took flight to Paris, then to NY and finally Charlotte. My parents are the lucky ones who were able to get out of the war zone. Unlucky ones are my uncle who lost his legs from the bombing and still in Mariupol hospital as well as the rest of our extended family in Mariupol that we don't know whether they are alive or not.

My parents are starting over in US at the age of 80 and 81. They walked out from their home with a small backpack. They are very independent and plan to find way to help out the rest of their family in Ukraine. We are looking for a at least temporary apartment to rent and some sort of transportation. Thank you for reading our story. The photo is from their recent 50th wedding anniversary.

Thank you for everyone's kind words and support! Valentina and Vitaliy are forever grateful. They are moving into their new place this weekend! It is small and comfortable, we are looking for any gently used furniture if anyone wish to donate. They also got a small car to get to the grocery store and get around. It has been a tough transition but with everyone's love and support we are truly blessed!
