My manual wheelchair that I fundraised for in 2014 needs to be totally replaced. I took care of it well beyond it normal life cycle.
Due to a leak in the roof of my apartment, water managed to damage my battery and its charger - it will no longer charge. Since I have had it as long as I have, the model has improved and the battery, charger are now discontinued.
The chair functions the same, but it is lighter and more compact and the battery is housed on the chair differently. The wheels are power assisted so I would be able to get around as I would with my scooter, yet be able to get it in and out of a car like a wheelchair.
My insurance looks at this as a luxury item and my renters insurance is giving me a very hard time - in the mean time I can only use my motorized scooter (can't go anywhere in a car) and travel within Dade County with my transportation service, STS.
This would be amazing to have again - it really was/is life changing.
