This is my friend Lindia. Lindia is that person who is always there for you, whatever the need. When I had just moved to California with a newborn baby she was my neighbor and she personified what it meant to be neighborly. She helped me navigate being a new mom and living in a new community. She taught me her version of care taking, which always involved food, whether it was growing it, cooking it or sharing it – love was a key ingredient as we gathered around her kitchen island. She is a woman who takes care of others with grace and compassion.
Now she is the one in need. Last month, while being the brilliant dog-mom that she is, Lindia was blindsided by a couple of dogs rough housing at the dog park resulting in multiple breaks to both bones of her lower leg. Major surgery placing a metal plate to stabilize the bones means she will be wheelchair bound and unable to put weight on that leg for months and will have months of physical therapy.
Lindia is a brilliant designer, but visiting job sites is an essential part of her work so she won’t be able to survive financially until she is back on both feet. As an independent, self-sufficient woman this is a huge blow.
Lindia never asks for help ... but I am asking for her to ensure that this generous giving woman can pay her bills while she recovers. She needs to focus on healing without fear of losing her home. In addition to her basic living expenses, she must now cover a slew of medical costs to the tune of $33,000 over the next six months.
Please join me in providing support to a woman who has always been there for everyone else.
