My name is Michelle Joe. This fundraiser is for a memorial and also to help with continuing search efforts and/or reward money for truthful information the will help us to locate my son Cody Turner.

My son Cody Turner was last known to be alive on Sunday July 26, 2015, a total of 2,489 days. He is missing from Yakima, Washington. At the time of his disappearance he was 24 years old, he would be 31 now. The detectives and I both believe that he is missing because of foul play.

Since Cody first went missing I along with family, friends and even complete strangers have spent numerous hours seaching for him but we still have not found him.

I odds of finding Cody still alive after all this time (almost 7 years) are not good and after giving it A LOT of thought I will be asking for the court to declare Cody legally dead in absentia. This has hands down been the hardest decision that I have ever had to make but I believe that it is the right choice.

Without a body there will not be a "traditional funeral" with a burial or cremation but there can still be some kind of memorial to honor Cody's life.

I have been in contact with the Yakima arboretum about planting a tree in Cody's memory. It will be $1,200.00 to plant a memorial tree (this price includes a plaque that will have Cody's name on it) unfortunately I don't have $1,200.00 and that is why I started this fundraiser.

I am reaching out to my family, my friends and complete strangers in the hope that I will be able to fundraiser enough money to pay for the memorial tree and plaque. Before the tree and plaque can be ordered the $1,200.00  must be paid in full. Once the order has been placed it will take approximately  10  to 12 weeks for the plaque to arrive and  course it can't be to hot or to cold when a tree is planted. I need to fundraise the $1,200.00 as quickly as I can.

You might have noticed that the requested amount is for $3,000.00 and here is the reason why.... Just because I am having Cody declared legally dead in absentia DOES NOT mean that I will stop searching for Cody!!! I will continue to search for my son until he either is found or until I take my last breath. If there is any money raised beyond the $1,200.00 for the memorial tree it will be used to help pay for continuing search efforts and/or to be able to pay a reward to someone that has truthful information that will lead us to finding Cody.

Cody was a son, a daddy, a grandson, a brother, a nephew, an uncle, a cousin and a friend to many people.

No parent wants to lose a child, to have a child die. It is a loss unlike any other, you don't ever get over it. Cody's sister died 17 years ago at the age of 12. Her death was devastating for everyone that knew her and loved her. Her death was and still is very hard for me to live with and sadly the only thing that has made her death any easier for me is knowing for a fact that she really died, knowing the facts of why she died and knowing for a fact where she was laid to rest. I don't have any facts when it comes to Cody though and I cannot even begin to describe to you how that feels. The thought of someone dumping and discarding him like trash, leaving him for wild animals to feed on and scatter his bones eats at me all day, everyday. It has almost made me crazy. Cody wasn't perfect, he made mistakes like everyone else but he was my son and I loved him unconditionally. Cody wasn't trash! He deserves to be found and taken to a final resting place that can be visited by his family and friends.

No donation amount is to small....any amount will help me get closer to the goal so PLEASE, PLEASE make a donation if you can and also PLEASE share this *spot fund with your family and friends and ask them to do the same.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Michelle

It was important to me and Cody's daughter that she be here for the memorial planting for her dad that I decided to go with a memorial rose bush instead of a memorial tree for him. The $300 for rose bush has been paid for and the plaque has been ordered. We will be planting Cody's rose bush this Sunday June 26th at 11:00am

I will post pictures of the planting of the rose and also of the memorial gathering that we are having to same day for Cody and his dad Gary.

***I have lowered the amount that I am hoping to fundraise from $3,000.  to $2,000. As I mentioned in the beginning that although I am having Cody declared legally dead that does not mean that I am going to stop searching for my son. Any donations that are received now will be to help with continuing search efforts and/or reward money for truthful information that will lead us to Cody. I just want to keep everyone informed about what is going on.

I just want to say thank you so much to everyone that has donated. It is because of all of you this memorial planting is going to happen while Cody's daughter is still here.

Cody's daughter arrived in Yakima, Washington on Monday. We will be having a memorial gathering on Sunday June 26, 2022 for Cody and his dad Gary. Mine and Gary's daughters Cassie would have been turning 30 on the 26th had she not passed away in 2004 at age 12. I am almost certain that this is going to be a very emotional day for me as I say goodbye to my son and his dad while remembering the 12 birthdays that I had with my daughter celebrating her and wishing that there had been many, many more. It does comfort me a little thinking about the 3 of them being together again.
