—�GERTIE EMERGENCY – please help!
Poor Gertie is very sick and needs surgery ASAP. This Weds.
I had to take her to the emergency/specialty clinic in VT(fever, lethargy, swelling/sore face, drooling, not eating,etc).
The doctor said she has a severe infection in her mouth, and antibiotics aren’t even touching it. The concern is that the infection could become systemic, which could potentially cause sepsis, so it’s critical to get her into surgery quickly.
I got a call there was a cancellation for Weds. Generally they’re booked out at least a month but she can’t wait that long.
She’s been withdrawn, starting to lose weight, and hasn’t been her spunky self. I noticed her breath had a horrible smell, and she started drooling a lot so it was clear to me this was an infection. It’s so difficult seeing her go through this.
Included is the low and high estimate for surgery. Unfortunately, the doctor said she will definitely come in at the high end of the estimate. If the high end isn’t attainable, he suggested trying to reach above midrange — around $6,500 and he’ll do his best to make it work.
If we can raise the funds in by Tuesday she can get the surgery. If not, I’ll have to cancel. I’m very worried about her so I’m hoping for a miracle!
