Emerging Scholars was established in 2002, by a consortium of seven independent schools serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area. They recognized that there are countless local students who exhibit exceptional academic and leadership potential, but who lack the preparation and financial means to attend a school where they will fully develop their capabilities. ES was established to identify such students, help them earn admittance to and financial assistance from the top independent schools in the region; as well as prepare them to thrive throughout their academic careers with the guidance and support provided by the Emerging Scholars two pillared strategy for success, Scholars Academy and Scholars Advancement.
Emerging Scholars partners with parents and institutions to provide significant financial, academic and social support, which allows these unique, capable and driven students to embrace life-changing opportunities. Emerging Scholars students and their families in turn enrich the cultures and communities of Emerging Scholars partner schools. By nurturing, guiding and educating a diverse student body for entry into selective and rigorous independent schools, Emerging Scholars is a catalyst for social change, providing our global society with critically needed leaders.
