When we arrived at the refugee camp, the rain was relentless—cold, hard, and unyielding. It soaked through our clothes as we were rushed toward the entrance of a modest building, our feet slipping in the thick mud beneath us. Inside, the air was heavy with anticipation. Over 800 young people had gathered, shoulder to shoulder, waiting—not just for a message, but for a reminder that they were not forgotten.
I was led to the front and seated beside the community leader. The room fell into a reverent hush as he stepped forward and spoke words I will never forget:
“Today, we know Jesus has not forgotten us. Today, we are reminded that He loves us. Though the world may have turned its back on our suffering, He has not. And how do we know? Because He sent Pastor Matt and his daughter, Selah, from the other side of the world to be with us. To remind us that we are seen, known, and deeply loved.”
Tears welled up in my eyes. Not because I felt worthy of such words—but because I felt the weight of their hope, their longing, and their unwavering faith in a God who shows up.
Yes, we can send money. Yes, we can video call. But Jesus didn’t save us from a distance. He came. He stepped into our world, walked our roads, wept with us, and bore our burdens. This is the heart of missions—to be with the people. To sit beside them, to share their stories, to hold their hands in the dark and remind them of the light.
Our family believes in this deeply. We are committed to going, to showing up, to standing in the discomfort if that’s what it takes. And we want to ask you—will you partner with us? Will you send us as a representative of your love? Not just to support a mission, but to be part of a miracle?
This June 2025, we sense God’s invitation again. We'll be returning to Seoul, South Korea; Jakarta, Indonesia; and the refugee camps in Thailand. Once again, this is not a vacation. We’ll be traveling light, sleeping on floors, and staying wherever we’re welcome, so we can be present in places that are often forgotten.
Our focus will be to serve the local Church—preaching, teaching, and encouraging pastors and leaders—while also addressing real, physical needs in hard-to-reach places. We want to see minds renewed, hearts awakened, and bodies restored through the good news of Jesus.
Would you consider sending our family as an extension of yourself—to go where many cannot go and to love those who may feel forgotten? We would be deeply honored to carry that mission forward on your behalf.
