On May 17th Mickey had a stroke and had to have emergency surgery. A month later we were released and heading to the Neuro Center for rehab where we spent another 4 weeks. Within the 2nd week of being in NICU his job called me to tell me they had to fill his position at work and let him go! That was a complete blow out of nowhere. The 1st week at the Neuro Center I had to go back to work in order to pay our bills. September 17th will make 4 months from the day that changed our lives. As of September 8, Mickey is about 85% back to “himself” and is still recovering. We’ve come a long way and fought so many battles to get here and I’m forever grateful for where we are. Mickey didn’t lose any bodily functions, memory or speech. We gained a few temporary set backs like vertigo, nausea, blurred and double vision and had to walk with a walker. As of today we’re only fighting the double vision which affects his balance and depth perception. He stopped using the walker over two weeks ago and walks on his own now. But because of the double vision he still has a slight wobble here and there. We exercise every evening. We walk over 500-700 steps every afternoon, he does daily comprehensive worksheets and puzzles. It drives him crazy being home and not working and I know he’ll be back to himself because god only gives us temporary situations. If you can’t donate money that is perfectly acceptable just send us your love and prayers! Thank you!
