I've had the honor of visiting many of the Hawaiian island - including Maui - and am devastated by the wildfire that has destroyed Lahaina town. Lahaina is a sacred and historic place which was once the royal residence of King Kamehameha, who unified Hawaii under a single kingdom. I am so grateful I was able to visit Lahaina briefly in my travels to Hawaii.
I am fundraising for the Maui Strong Fund which is organized by the Hawaii Community Foundation.
The Maui Strong Fund is providing financial resources that can be deployed quickly, with a focus on rapid response and recovery for the devastating wildfires on Maui.
HCF is working in close collaboration with state and county leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community members to get an understanding of the quickly evolving priorities.
