Carol’s Story
Our mom, Carol, has had so many problems pertaining to her hearing for as long as we can remember. It has gotten so much worse in the recent years that it has become a concern for her safety.
Mom has hearing aids that really help, however they have caused swelling in her ears off and on again for a while now. When her ears swell she can not fit her hearing aids in causing her to have little to no hearing at all.
She cares for Ella-Mae, her granddaughter, through the day while Shania is at work. Days where she is not able to wear her hearing aids cause a lot of issues when caring for Ella. Ella understands that she must “yell” at grandma to hear her when she needs something. Nap time is scary for the both of them because mom(grandma) will not be able to hear when Ella wakes up. She’s not able to hear if there is trouble.
Mom finally has a new insurance where she will owe $1,700 for a life changing surgery so that she no longer has to wear hearing aids. She will be able to hear all day and night long with no fear of her ears swelling. Previously we had a GoFundMe set up to help raise $10,000 because of her old insurance. It seemed so far from possible. We used the money graciously donated to pay for repairs/bills on her hearing aids since we could not make up the rest of the needed funds. With her new insurance we have new found hope that we can make this possible!
We ask that if you are unable to donate, please send prayers or share so that we can somehow make this happen. This has been something we have been hoping to make happen for MANY years now.
Thank you,
Carol, Shelby, Shania, and Ella-Mae.
