My name is Dara, and at 46 years old, I am facing the hardest battle of my life.
What started as breast cancer has progressed to Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and has spread to other parts of my body. Since my diagnosis, my life has changed in ways I never imagined. I’ve endured countless doctor appointments, scans, procedures, radiation treatments, and chemotherapy. Every day brings new challenges, including pain, fatigue, nausea, and uncertainty about what tomorrow may hold.
Recently, I began a new chapter in my treatment journey with chemotherapy medications, and while I continue to fight with everything I have, the physical, emotional, and financial burdens have become overwhelming.
Cancer has taken so much from me. It has stolen my independence, my ability to work, and many of the simple things I once took for granted. Most days require a cane or walker, and even routine tasks can be exhausting.
Through it all, I am blessed to have my father, “Papa Bear,” by my side and my loyal yellow Labrador, Luna, who brings comfort during the darkest days. Their love helps keep me going when the road feels impossible.
