Help Us Bring David Home Safely ❤️🏡🙏
If you know me, you know asking for help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I’ve always been the one who works hard, figures things out, and finds a way. But today, I have to set my pride aside because this is no longer about me.
It’s about David.
On July 27, 2026, David received the incredible gift of a double lung transplant after a long battle with end-stage lung disease. After months of hospitalizations, countless tests, ECMO, life support, and more prayers than we could ever count, God answered those prayers through the selfless gift of an organ donor and their amazing family. We will spend the rest of our lives honoring that precious gift and praying for the donor’s loved ones.
Now begins the next chapter of our journey.
For the past year and a half, David has been too sick to work, and I have been our family’s only source of income while trying to keep up with mounting medical expenses and everyday bills. Since his hospitalization and transplant, I have been by his side instead of at work. When David is discharged, I will become his full-time caregiver for the months ahead, making it impossible for me to return to work right away.
As difficult as it is to admit, we’ve reached a point where we simply cannot do this alone.
The hardest part to share is something we’ve quietly lived with for nearly two years.
After hurricane damage, our home has been covered by a blue tarp while we’ve battled ongoing moisture, mold, and mildew issues. We’ve done everything we could to keep it livable, but we simply haven’t had the financial means to make the repairs our home desperately needs.
While no one can say exactly what caused David’s illness, we are deeply concerned that living in these conditions may have affected his lung health. What we do know for certain is that now, with brand-new lungs and lifelong anti-rejection medications that weaken his immune system, returning to a home with mold or moisture could put his recovery—and even his life—at serious risk.
His transplant has given him a second chance at life. My job now is to make sure he has a clean, safe, healthy place to come home to.
Funds raised will help us:
• Repair or replace our damaged roof.
• Remove mold, moisture, and mildew.
• Repair the interior of our home and create a healthy recovery environment.
• Cover essential household expenses while I care for David full time during his recovery.
