THIS HAS BEEN FUNDED -- NO NEED FOR FURTHER DONATIONS! YOURE ALL AMAZING!!!!
Hey neighbors, please take a moment to read:
Meet Lily. I mean this without an ounce of hyperbole: she is the sweetest, kindest dog I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Lily belongs to my brother, Rob, and my sister-in-law, Hali—two lifelong locals who have always called our river valley home. If you live in the area, chances are you know Rob. He is well known as one of the most helpful guys around, whether he’s lending a hand to a stranger on Facebook without asking for a penny, or spending his own time repairing and cleaning up the playground in Frenchtown. He is an outstanding older brother who inspires me daily to be a better man.
The Situation
Recently, Lily sustained a torn CCL in a freak accident. While she has pet insurance through SPOT, they have completely denied the claim. They are calling it a "pre-existing condition" because a vet noted a very minor strain in her file back in 2021. I was an insurance broker for many years, and spent some time this morning arguing with the claims department, but this is something I will not be able to get overturned.
Because of this insurance loophole, Rob and Hali have been hit with an unexpected, devastating bill of $7,123.41.
These are Two of the Hardest Working People You’ll Meet
Rob and Hali are firing on every piston they have just to build a life together.
Rob works tirelessly at Peddler’s Village, logging overtime on every single check to keep the property maintained. If you’ve enjoyed the famous Christmas lights in recent years, you have his hard work to thank.
Hali busts her ass six days a week at Giggleberry Fair (the children’s play zone at Peddler’s Village), managing screaming kids and daily messes. She does it all to utilize their tuition reimbursement program. On top of working grueling hours, she maintains outstanding grades and workplace commendations as she finishes her bachelor’s degree, hoping to secure a stable career so they can start a family in the next few years.
Why Their Family Really Needs Your Help
This sudden $7,123.41 bill is a crushing blow. Without help, Hali will be forced to pause her college education this coming year just to pay off the vet debt, delaying her dreams and trapping her in a cycle of exhausting work.
Rob and Hali have silently spent decades giving back to this community, volunteering, and working behind the scenes to make our towns beautiful. They never ask for anything in return. If you have ever taken your kids to the playground in Frenchtown, you have Rob to thank, who has (without asking for a penny) maintained it, cleaned it, and more. That's only one of the countless acts of service he has provided to our community, asking for no recognition nor payment. Now, I ask my neighbors as politely as I can, they need us. If you've ever enjoyed a parade in New Hope or Lambertville, Rob has always helped maintain those floats (and he even built a few confetti canons!) He volunteered for years at Ross Mill Farm, taking care of countless neglected animals, building barns, feeding them, staying up late with them when they were sick and my God, so much more. The list of his communal contributions are so, so long, more than a lifetimes worth. He is the most caring, compassionate guy I know.
I am asking our community to please consider giving whatever you can... whether it's $50, $5, or even 50 cents... to ease this unfair burden. 100% of the funds will go directly to Hali Cook to clear the medical debt.
Rob and I are taking extra "handyman" jobs to help pay off Lily's bills as well, so if you have any work you need done, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at 267-372-6184. Rob is the smartest man I know, and he can build just about anything, if you hire him and me, you will not be disappointed.
It would mean the world to me, and it would mean the world to them. Let’s return the favor and be there for two people who have always been there for us.
With my deepest thanks and gratitude,
Alex Cull
