Saugatuck is long overdue for thoughtful, forward-thinking development.
The Westport Alliance for Saugatuck was formed to advocate for thoughtful, forward-thinking development that enhances quality of life and addresses town's needs, accounts for critical concerns like traffic congestion and public safety, without sacrificing commuter access to Metro-North and the delicate ecosytem at the mouth of the Saugatuck.
We believe in balancing growth with infrastructure improvements, ensuring new developments respect the town’s sense of place, improve mobility, and prioritize the well-being of residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
The outsize scope and scale of ROAN's updated Hamlet plan fails on all of these goals.

Their 2022 proposal above in the vernacular of a New England Coastal Village is what we expected. Instead, the 2025 proposal plans a dense, urbanized development whose scale and use (including large events) will make current traffic problems worse, leave the public with little access to the riverfront and nowhere to park.
