Headstrong: Sober October Challenge

For the month of October, we are looking to bring more awareness to the continuing Veteran mental health crisis, available treatment options for Veterans and military spouses and promote individual fitness. The October Fitness challenge is to simply get veterans and military spouses up and start moving. This isn’t a contest about how fast you can run or bike but just a challenge to have everyone start to move for better physical and mental health. With the Military suicides surging this year to a record high among active duty troops we all need to work together to bring awareness of significant programs of record for PTSD treatment like The Headstrong Project that literally are saving people’s lives.

The October Fitness Challenge:

There will be two categories you can participate in which are:

  • Walk/Run
  • Bike
Time is not a factor just distance. Simply Motion!

Prizes: (Donated by GCO)

  • $300 Amazon Gift Cards for 1st place in each category
  • $200 Amazon Gift Cards for 2nd place in each category
  • $100 Amazon Gift Cards for 3rd Place in each category

Rules (3 simple things to compete):

  1. In order to compete for the prizes, you must post a picture on Instagram of the result of your workout each day that you work out (e.g. display face of an apple watch, display of a treadmill or stationary bike etc). *The result of the workout must clearly show the number of miles.
  2. You must use the hashtag #headstrongoctober on each post
  3. You must tag @getheadstrong on each post

Winners are those who log the most miles in each category which can be verified through the social media posts on Instagram.

The contest will run from Oct 5-Oct 31st.

We encourage (not required) to share your branch of service (Army, Navy, Airforce , Marines, Coast Guard) or if you are a Military Spouse.

Winners will be announced on Instagram and contacted through the Instagram account that is used with the hashtag to track the miles.

Even if you already work out we encourage you to participate to help bring awareness about Headstrong’s mental health care treatment for Veterans and Military Families. You may save a life.

Please consider making a donation to Headstrong through this Spotfund story as well.
