On July 25, 2025, our son Brian experienced a heartbreaking loss when a fast-moving fire tore through his apartment complex. We are incredibly grateful that Brian and his beloved cat, Winston, escaped unharmed, but the damage was catastrophic.

The fire began in a nearby field when a lawnmower sparked dry grass. Strong winds quickly carried the flames into the apartment buildings, which have now been declared unsafe to re-enter. Brian lost everything except what he was wearing - furniture, appliances, clothing, daily essentials, and the irreplaceable items that made his place his home.

While we are so thankful for his safety, the emotional and financial toll of starting over is immense. Brian now faces the challenge of rebuilding his life from scratch, and we want to help ease that burden.

We’ve created this GoFundMe to support Brian as he begins the long road to recovery. Your donation will go directly toward helping him secure housing, replace essential belongings, and begin to rebuild a sense of normalcy.

If you’re unable to contribute financially but would still like to help, we are also coordinating household donations on his behalf. Furniture, kitchenware, linens, and other essentials are deeply appreciated. Please reach out to us directly via email, text, or DM if you’d like to donate items.

Your kindness and support mean the world to us. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help Brian take one step closer to feeling at home again.

Thank you for being part of his healing journey.

Final Update: Brian’s New Chapter ❤️

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share a final update and a huge thank you. Brian is officially settled into his new apartment! It’s been a long road since the fire, but thanks to your incredible generosity, love, and support, he’s got a safe place to call home and is slowly but surely rebuilding his life.

We’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness from family, friends, and even people we’ve never met. Every donation, message, and share made a real difference. You helped him replace essentials, feel supported, and most importantly, you reminded him he’s not alone.

He’s doing well, focusing on healing, and getting back on his feet. There’s still work ahead, but this new beginning wouldn’t have been possible without all of you.

From our hearts to yours, thank you.

With love,
The Gibsons

Update: Brian’s New Chapter Begins

We’re so grateful to share that Brian has officially moved into his new place and is slowly but surely getting reestablished. He’s back at work and incredibly thankful to be returning to a routine and truly moving forward.

Next week, Dave and Sharon will be spending time with Brian to tackle the “big stuff”—delivering furniture, assembling essentials, hanging artwork, and making some of the larger purchases that help turn a space into a home.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has donated, shared, or reached out with support. Your kindness has made a real difference in helping Brian rebuild.

If you haven’t had a chance to donate or share the fundraiser, we’d be so grateful if you would consider doing so. We’d love to reach at least the halfway mark of our goal (if not more! 😊) to help offset the overwhelming costs of replacing literally everything.

We’re also continuing to coordinate donations of household items. If you have furniture, linens, kitchenware, or other essentials you’d like to contribute, please feel free to email, text, or DM Dave or Sharon directly.

Thank you again for being part of Brian’s journey. Every bit of support helps, and means more than we can say.

With continued gratitude,

Sharon & Dave

We’re happy to share an update: Brian has been able to lease an apartment and moves in Monday!
There’s still a long way to go. He’ll be working next on furnishing his new place, restocking his kitchen, and continuing to replace clothes and daily necessities. The GoFundMe is still open if you’re able to contribute - every bit helps and is deeply appreciated. Dave and Sharon will head out there soon to help him get his apartment set up.
If you have household items to donate - furniture, kitchenware, linens, etc. - please reach out to Dave or Sharon directly. Thanks to those who have already made offers! We’ll be able to get you confirmation soon, and will arrange any pickups for the week of the 18th. We truly appreciate your continued support.
Thank you again for being part of Brian’s recovery. We greatly appreciate all of you who have contributed, offered donations and help, and reached out with messages of support. Your kindness is making all the difference.

We are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and generosity you’ve shown since we launched this fundraiser for Brian. Your donations, messages, and offers of help have meant the world to our family - and especially to Brian. He is so grateful.

We’re relieved to share a brief update. Brian has found temporary lodging and is beginning the process of rebuilding. He’s done some shopping for immediate essentials like clothes, groceries, and supplies for Winston. He’s been touring apartments with immediate availability and, once he secures a more permanent place to live, he’ll begin looking for everything else.

Your continued support, whether through donations or simply sharing this post, makes a real difference.

If you have tangible items you’d like to donate (furniture, kitchenware, linens, etc.), or if you’d like to check in or offer support directly, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Dave or Sharon by phone, text, or DM. We’re coordinating donations and are so grateful for your kindness.

Thank you again for being part of Brian’s recovery. Your compassion is helping him through this difficult time.

With heartfelt thanks,

The Gibson Family
