Hi, I’m Delanie, a single mom fighting to stay strong for my young son while battling multiple health issues. Outside of my diagnoses, I’m someone who loves simple joys—like spending time with my boy, reading, or just enjoying a quiet day at home. But lately, my medical struggles have made even those basics feel out of reach, and I’m turning to this community for support to get back on my feet.
I’ve been living with Type 1 diabetes since I was young, and as a “brittle” diabetic, my blood sugar levels swing unpredictably, leading to frequent hospital stays and making it impossible to hold down a steady job. On top of that, I deal with severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, and what I call Peter Pan Syndrome—a struggle with adult responsibilities that feels even heavier under all this stress. Recently, things got scarier: I was diagnosed with Stage 3 chronic kidney disease, and my mom was moved to hospice care. I desperately want to be there for her in her final days and for my son at home, but without reliable monitoring and meds, I’m at risk of dangerous insulin reactions that could land me back in the ER—or worse.
These conditions prevent me from working consistently, driving safely, or even managing daily self-care without fear. Hospital bills are piling up, and prescriptions like insulin and Dexcom G7 sensors (which track my glucose in real-time) are essential but expensive—even with discounts from GoodRx, they cost hundreds each month. Doctors have stressed that consistent access to these tools is critical for brittle diabetics like me to avoid life-threatening complications, and they’ve recommended ongoing monitoring to slow my kidney disease progression.
I’m raising funds specifically for:
- Outstanding medical bills from recent hospital stays.
- Monthly insulin supplies and Dexcom G7 sensors.
- Travel costs to visit my mom in hospice and any related care needs.
Every dollar will go directly to these expenses, helping me stabilize my health so I can be the mom my son needs and say goodbye to my own mom with peace of mind.
If you’ve read this far, thank you—it means the world. Any donation, big or small, will make a huge difference in lifting this burden. If you can’t give, sharing this campaign with your network would be incredible too. Your kindness gives me hope during a terrifying time. Let’s turn this around together.
With gratitude,
Delanie
