I NEED HELP — AND THIS IS THE HARDEST THING I’VE EVER ADMITTED
I have spent a long time trying to find the right words for this, because asking for help has never come easily to me.
But sometimes life puts you in a position where pride has to become less important than protecting the people you love most.
I am a traumatic brain injury survivor.
Surviving my injury changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. There are things I struggle with that people don't see. There are days when simply getting through the day takes everything I have. And yet, through every setback, every fear, and every moment when I wondered how I was going to keep going, I kept getting back up.
Because I have children who need me.
And right now, I am facing one of the most frightening battles of my life:
I am fighting to keep a home for my kids.
Not a bigger house.
Not a nicer house.
Not some picture-perfect life.
A home.
A place where my children can sleep safely at night.
A place where their belongings can stay.
A place where they can come home from school and know that their world is still standing.
As a mother, there is something absolutely heartbreaking about knowing you may not be able to provide something as basic as a roof over your children's heads without asking someone else for help.
I have cried. I've been scared. I've felt embarrassed. I've questioned myself.
But I refuse to let shame stop me from fighting for my children.
So I'm doing something incredibly difficult:
I'm asking for help.
I'm asking anyone who can help me keep our apartment to please consider helping my family.
If you can donate, every dollar matters.
If you can't donate, please share this.
If you know of a housing resource, an organization, a person, or anything that could help, please reach out.
Because this isn't just about an apartment.
This is about my children's home.
It's about keeping their lives as stable as possible while their mom fights through circumstances she never asked for.
It's about a mother who has already survived a traumatic brain injury and is still standing, still parenting, still fighting, and still trying to give her children a future.
I don't want pity.
I want a chance.
A chance to keep my children's home.
A chance to breathe.
A chance to keep rebuilding my life without having to watch everything I've worked so hard to hold together fall apart.
I've already survived something that changed me forever.
I'm not going to let this be the thing that breaks me.
My children are watching me fight. And for them, I will keep fighting until I have nothing left to give.
So today, I'm putting my pride aside.
I'm telling the truth.
I need help.
And if you can help me keep a roof over my children's heads, please know that you aren't simply helping a mother pay rent.
You're helping a family stay together, stay safe, and stay home.
And I will never forget that. ❤️
