Elena and her family are in the middle of a crisis. Her son Luke has been hospitalized with catatonia since 3/13/23 and is awaiting transfer to a more specialized facility. He is currently in a hospital unit which is ill-equipped to meet the needs of an autistic child in crisis and is handling the situation very reactively (restraints, calling in hospital security, not allowing him to leave his room, etc), despite Luke not having a history of violence. Because of this, Elena is spending a majority of her time in the hospital parenting both of her children while advocating for Luke.

This fund will help pay for an autism advocate, outpatient therapies not covered by insurance, food/gas, loss of income, and other items while Luke is an inpatient as well as after - bridging his needs when he returns to school after he stabilizes.
