Help My Brother Get Back to Work and Become Independent
My brother is 50 years old, and his life has been filled with more challenges than anyone should have to face. But through every difficult chapter, he has continued to push forward, work hard, and do everything he can to take care of himself.
My brother spent eight long years on dialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant. Eight years of medical treatments, exhaustion, uncertainty, and hoping that one day he would receive the call that could change his life.
But even during those eight difficult years, he never gave up on working.
He continued driving for Uber and Lyft, doing everything he could to remain independent and support himself. Despite spending so much of his life going to dialysis and dealing with the challenges that came with kidney failure, he kept getting behind the wheel and going to work.
Eventually, after eight years of dialysis, he received the kidney transplant he had been waiting and hoping for.
It was a new beginning.
And even after his transplant, my brother didn't stop working. He continued driving for Uber and Lyft because being able to work and support himself independently has always been extremely important to him.
But there is something else I want people to know about my brother.
He is one of the kindest and giving people I know, even when he doesn’t have much.
He has always wanted to be independent and take care of himself. He doesn't like asking anyone for anything, and he especially doesn't want to be a burden to his family. He is the type of person who will try to help someone else whenever he can—even when he doesn't have much to give himself.
That's simply who he is.
For years, he has relied on rented vehicles through an agency so that he could continue working. Although renting a car was not easy or inexpensive, it gave him the ability to work and maintain his independence.
Unfortunately, another unexpected hardship has now made that impossible.
The vehicle he had been renting was recently involved in a flood and is no longer available for him to use. Since the vehicle belongs to the rental agency, he cannot simply fix it and continue driving it. Without another vehicle, he has been left without a way to work.
After everything he has already overcome, it is heartbreaking to see him facing another obstacle that is preventing him from earning a living.
That's why I'm asking for help on his behalf.
My goal is to raise enough money to help my brother purchase a reliable used car of his own.
This isn't about getting him a luxury vehicle or anything fancy. He simply needs a safe, dependable car that will allow him to get back on the road, begin doing deliveries and other work, earn an income, and finally have transportation that belongs to him.
More importantly, having his own car would give him something he has always valued deeply: independence.
For eight years, he fought through dialysis while continuing to work. After receiving his kidney transplant, he continued working. He has always tried to take care of himself and avoid asking others for help.
So asking for help now is not easy for him.
That's why I'm stepping forward as his family.
He has spent so much of his life trying to help others and trying not to be a burden to anyone. Now, I hope we can come together and help him through this difficult moment.

Ayuda a mi hermano a volver a trabajar y recuperar su independencia
Mi hermano tiene 50 años y su vida ha estado llena de más desafíos de los que cualquier persona debería tener que enfrentar. Pero a través de cada capítulo difícil, ha seguido adelante, trabajando duro y haciendo todo lo posible para cuidarse por sí mismo.
Mi hermano pasó ocho largos años en diálisis mientras esperaba un trasplante de riñón. Ocho años de tratamientos médicos, agotamiento, incertidumbre y esperanza de que algún día recibiera esa llamada que podría cambiarle la vida.
Pero incluso durante esos ocho años tan difíciles, nunca dejó de trabajar.
Continuó conduciendo para Uber y Lyft, haciendo todo lo posible por mantenerse independiente y mantenerse económicamente. A pesar de pasar gran parte de su vida asistiendo a diálisis y enfrentando las dificultades que conlleva la insuficiencia renal, seguía poniéndose al volante y yendo a trabajar.
Finalmente, después de ocho años de diálisis, recibió el trasplante de riñón que tanto había esperado y por el que tanto había luchado.
Fue un nuevo comienzo.
Y aun después de su trasplante, mi hermano no dejó de trabajar. Continuó conduciendo para Uber y Lyft porque poder trabajar y mantenerse por sí mismo siempre ha sido extremadamente importante para él.
Pero hay algo más que quiero que la gente sepa sobre mi hermano.
Es una de las personas más nobles y generosas que conozco, incluso cuando él mismo no tiene mucho para dar, lo da sin pensarlo.
Siempre ha querido ser independiente y valerse por sí mismo. No le gusta pedirle nada a nadie, y especialmente no quiere ser una carga para su familia. Es el tipo de persona que siempre trata de ayudar a los demás cuando puede, incluso cuando él mismo no tiene mucho que ofrecer.
Así es simplemente como es él.
Durante años, ha dependido de vehículos alquilados a través de una agencia para poder seguir trabajando. Aunque alquilar un automóvil no era fácil ni económico, le daba la posibilidad de trabajar y mantener su independencia.
Desafortunadamente, otra dificultad inesperada ha hecho que eso ya no sea posible.
El vehículo que estaba alquilando recientemente estuvo involucrado en una inundación y ya no está disponible para que pueda utilizarlo. Como el vehículo pertenece a la agencia de alquiler, él no puede simplemente repararlo y continuar conduciéndolo. Sin otro vehículo, se ha quedado sin una manera de trabajar.
Después de todo lo que ya ha superado, es muy doloroso verlo enfrentando otro obstáculo que le impide ganarse la vida.
Por eso estoy pidiendo ayuda en su nombre.
Mi objetivo es recaudar suficiente dinero para ayudar a mi hermano a comprar un automóvil usado, confiable y propio.
Esto no se trata de conseguirle un vehículo de lujo ni nada extravagante. Simplemente necesita un automóvil seguro y confiable que le permita volver a las calles, comenzar nuevamente a hacer entregas y otros trabajos, generar ingresos y, finalmente, tener un medio de transporte que sea suyo.
Más importante aún, tener su propio automóvil le daría algo que siempre ha valorado profundamente: su independencia.
