Wayne and Joyce Miller, 72, adopted me after their 19 year old daughter- my biological mother passed away in an accident in 1996 when I was 3 months old.
My father, disabled since childhood, with only one fully working arm and eye worked in a factory to support his family until a work injury in the 90s, but that didn't stop him from being the hardest working man I have known, working any job he was able to, even recycling for money. My mother took care of others her entire life, and in the 90s she discovered she had fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, a nerve injury that forced her into taking Klonopin and other health issues that kept us at doctors growing up. Eventually my father had to change his monthly house payments to accommodate the loss of his factory help and the addition of medicine and medical needs that insurance did not cover and the costs of raising a teenager.
His original housing loan was changed to cover costs, he refinanced and now owes $14,000 on a 15 year loan which will be up in October. Foreclosure has already begun and my dad is trying to stay high in spirits, convinced he will find a way like always.
They will be forced to move out of their home after living there for over 40 years, and when my mom is still only able to sleep in a hospital bed she brought home after being hospitalized over the past year that she is still recovering from, mainly with dad's help while he can barely help himself. They are NOT able to move to a new place, let alone find somewhere suitable or affordable to live in their area. I truly do not know what to do and can't bare not being able to help myself while I am about to watch my elderly parents who sacrificed their life for me get thrown into the street when they have shown nothing but love and kindness to people no matter what all their lives.
