I met Heather Warth on a support group site for a rare disease called Cowdens Syndrome. We immediately connected and I was able to answer questions and helped her problem solve some pretty scary medical problems.
Heather has colon/rectal cancer and the hospital where she lives in California couldn't do the surgery as they felt she would be better served an hour away in another hospital. The outcome of this surgery will be an ostomy. While waiting to hear from the other hospital, her insurance company's web site was compromised and everything had to be postponed...she is still waiting and she's scared and she grows more symptomatic with every passing day.
In the midst of all this, her husband lost his job and has been actively searching but so far..no job offers. Heather works 20 hours a month from home and that money barely pays for doctor copays. They have run out of time..and money...They have been given a date to come up with rent money or they will be out. There is no money for anything and now, along with everything else, their car has a major oil leak and she is uncertain it will even make the hour long drive to the hospital where her surgery will be performed.
she has reached out to social services but doesn't qualify for any immediate help and what help she has been offered is minimal . Her autistic son,no longer gets SSI. She has no family that she can ask to help.
I'm asking for any help you can offer. I can't imagine the fear and frustration she feels. Please give as you feel led.
