Launchpad 106 Lawsuit Filed
As Colorado Springs neighborhood after neighborhood began facing the same problems to stop dangerous developments across the city which threaten lives and our neighborhoods, we began to share what we had learned to help our friends across the city. What started as mostly a westside collaboration has grown into requests for help and involvement from neighborhoods city-wide.
Since our inception, our founders and board members been involved in appealing and/or filing/defending legal actions on:
- Broadmoor Attempt to Close W Cheyenne Mtn Blvd
- Broadmoor Land Swap (Strawberry Fields)
- 2424 Garden of the Gods Apartments
- Kettle Creek North Housing Development
- Rock Creek Mesa Housing Development
- Uintah Apartments
- The Amphitheater
We testified on the Creekwalk Apartments (lawsuit underway funded currently by Cheyenne resident Tim Hoiles), are helping with the Royal Pines Apartments in the north side of town near Pine Creek and have filed a 106 lawsuit on the Launchpad, a controversial development that benefits developers on the backs of taxpayers on the westside of the city.
What we have learned is that to be able to help neighborhoods in a timely fashion and effectively, we need to create a legal defense fund to handle legal retainers and fees to begin lawsuits quickly as there are often only 28 days to file many of these legal appeals to City Council decision or to hire lawyers to testify before City Council as the notices from the Planning Commission are frequently very last minute, by design.
Regarding the Launchpad legal filing, we need raise funds today to help that historic westside neighborhood protect their homes and community. The testimony from local residents regarding their homes moving, the expert testimony of professional geologist and Westside Watch Board member Mr. Scott Hiller, feedback from the Colorado Geological Society as well as input from Professors of Geology all raised alarming red flags about the landslides in that area and the instability of the land. Added to that, there was critical testimony pertaining to threats of increased crime and grave risks to public safety making this a critical suit to pursue which will ultimately benefit us all.

We have so many neighbors asking for our help that we need to be able to build up this legal defense fund. Without this, neighborhoods are left helpless and steamrolled by our leadership with no chance at protecting their homes and way of life. So, please do give as it all adds up. You never know when it will be your neighborhood in need.
Thank you for being a great neighbor!
