2.6M New Yorkers cannot afford a Thanksgiving meal. Tonight 15,553 families will sleep in homeless shelters.
WHAT WE DO
In 2001, we began the program with a dozen volunteers from LivePerson delivering to 40 shelter families-in-need boxes filled with a frozen turkey and all the fixings to cook their own thanksgiving meal and host their familiy and friends.
The moment we learned just how much these families were impacted by being able to cook their own holiday meal and by feeling like somebody cares about them, FeedingNYC an annual program of the 501(3)(c) Dream Big Foundation, was born.
17 years later, we have delivered and impacted over 70,000 families-in-need throughout New York shelters and over 7,000 volunteers, sponsors and partners.
Our Cards 4 Kids program inspires Kids Social Responsibility in the classroom where kids learn about giving and being thankful. They then create hand made holiday cards that are included in the boxes for the families in need.
One small box makes a huge difference in people's lives. Sadly, the need for hunger relief is larger than you can imagine!
