Our baby girl Foxy tore her CrCL in BOTH knees at the river about one month ago now.
If you've met her, you know how sweet, social and playful she is, and it has been devastating to see her in pain and not able to go the park or even just on regular walks. We thought she just pulled a muscle or tweaked her toe, but after 2 weeks of limping with little progress, 2 veterinary visits, x-rays, and a surgical consult, she is in need of bilateral TPLO surgery.
Bilateral TPLO surgery will achieve stability in her knees, slow the progressive arthritis that results from this injury, get her to 85%-95% functionality, and ultimately allow her to live her best life possible, for as long as possible.
She is scheduled for surgery July 17th, which is estimated to cost $13336.89. The road to recovery is a long one
{ ~ 4 months}, and will require time off of work to watch her like a hawk for the first 2 weeks, months of assisted walking using a sling for her hind legs, several re-checks and physical/hydrotherapy sessions.
Unfortunately we did not get pet insurance in time to cover orthopedic injuries, didn't realize her breed is susceptible to CCL tears, & honestly just thought we had more time before facing major surgeries since she's only 1 year and 2 months and we do a great job caring for her otherwise. We're setting our pride aside and asking for any help from those that may have the means to, as this is a major debt for us that we're taking on and continues to snowball. She means the world to both of us and brings so much joy to every single person she meets.
Thank you for reading. Foxy says she can't wait to get back to normal and kiss your face
