Dear Family, Friends, and Kind-hearted Supporters,

Many of you know that our mother, Angela M. Douglas, has been successfully battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer since 2017. She was blessed with no active cancer in 2019, but in 2020 she had a mutation to triple-negative breast cancer, and most recently a progression to her brain in 2025.

Despite this new progression and diagnosis of leptomeningeal in the last few weeks, her faith and that of our family remain strong that healing is a miracle that we shall see! She has received care at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA for the last two years. Her medical team has been incredible and placed her on a trial that specifically addresses the breast cancer spread to the brain.

Through it all, she has fought with unwavering faith, courage, and love, never losing hope even in the hardest moments. This treatment and progression puts our mother in a very different position. Previously, she has worked through chemotherapy sessions, painful tests, and injections. This has become difficult with more time needed for recovery and focus on the fight for healing.

Whether you know our Mother from her commitments to her church home, her works through the community, or introduced through others during her walk of life; you’re familiar with the time, effort, and dedication that she has put out into the world. We are praying that time and commitment come back 100-fold.

While she focuses on her fight, we want to ensure she has everything she needs without the added stress of financial burdens.

Here are some things that can be done to support Angela:

Stand in Faith: We shall see a miracle of healing! She believes fully that the God she loves and serves will deliver her body from this sickness as only He can!

Pray: For strength and endurance for all during this journey with abundant favor and blessing.

Give: Financial resources to cover transportation, medical expenses and medications, and daily living expenses

Every prayer, every dollar, and every share means the world to us. We are trusting in God’s plan and believing in the power of community to help us get through this.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, kindness, and support. No gift is too small, and every act of generosity brings us one step closer to ensuring our mother can continue this fight with faith, dignity, and hope.

“The Lord your God wins victory after victory and is always with you. He celebrates and sings because of you, and He will refresh your life with His love.” ~ Zephaniah 3:17 CEV

With sincere gratitude and great expectation,

Angela’s Loving Family

A Cancer Update for Friends, Family, and Everyone Standing With Us

First and foremost, our family wants to thank everyone who has continued to surround us with love, prayers, encouragement, and support. Your kindness has meant more than we could ever fully express. Knowing that so many people are praying and standing with us in faith has carried us through many difficult moments.

Our mom would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who reached out with birthday wishes. Your messages, calls, and kind words truly lifted her spirit and meant so much to her during this time.

Last fall, our mom began experiencing increasing pain in her mouth and shoulder. Because of these symptoms, her doctors recommended radiation treatment to those areas due to the cancer spread to the jaw (small tumor) and neck (soft tissue mass with bony lesions extending C3- C7) area.

She completed a five day course of SRS radiation last Thursday, which prompted a new round of scans so her medical team could better understand what was happening and determine the next steps in her care.

Over the past week, those scans and tests were completed to evaluate how things have been responding to treatment. The results showed that while the previous treatment helped control the cancer in some areas, the disease has unfortunately progressed in others.

The scans showed that the cancer has spread further into some of the bones in her spine and sacrum, which has caused a few compression fractures. There are also a few new areas being monitored, including a lymph node, a small nodule in the lung, and an adrenal gland. There are also very small areas in the brain that the doctors continue to watch closely.

Because of these changes, our mom will no longer be able to continue in the clinical trial she had been participating in. While this is disappointing, her medical team has already created the next plan for treatment.

She will now transition to a standard chemotherapy treatment called Eribulin. This treatment will be administered here in Syracuse, which means she will no longer need to travel regularly to Boston for treatment.

Although treatment will now take place locally, her care team in Boston will still remain involved as consultants, and they will continue to review all of her scans. She will also return to Boston approximately every 8–10 weeks for scans, and the radiation team there will remain part of her care team as well.

This past week brought a lot of information and many difficult decisions. After prayer and thoughtful consideration, our mom decided to relocate her active treatment back to Syracuse so she can continue fighting while being closer to home and surrounded by family.

Even in the midst of this difficult news, we are continuing to stand firmly in our faith. We believe that God is still present in every step of this journey. Scripture reminds us in Isaiah 41:10:

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you."

We are asking everyone to continue praying for:

- Strength and peace for our mom

- Wisdom for her doctors and care team

- Successful treatment with this new chemotherapy

- Healing and stability throughout her body

We are also incredibly grateful for the financial support many of you provided previously. Those donations helped cover travel to Boston, medical costs, and everyday living expenses during treatment.

Because this new treatment will no longer be covered under the clinical trial, the out-of-pocket medical costs will increase again. If anyone feels led to help support our mom during this next stage of treatment, we would be deeply grateful.

More than anything, we ask for your continued prayers. We truly believe in the power of prayer and the strength of a community standing together in faith.

Thank you for walking beside us through this journey. Your love, encouragement, and prayers mean everything to our family.

With gratitude and faith,

Our Family

Update:

Hello Friends and Family, we have not been able to update you all, as much as we would like to and for that we are sorry. The last few months have been a whirlwind and an adjustment on Mom and our family.

From the outpouring of all your gifts, love, prayers and encouragement, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It is heartwarming to witness Gods love through each and everyone of you. Mom is not always able to talk and communicate to the best of her abilities due to the heavy side effects of the medicine and fatigue, but we are thankful each day and so here is an update from her most recent appointment.

  • This  last visit, the CT scan came back normal as there was an indication of possible pneumonitis.

  • Several lesions on the brain have either gone or shrunk.

  • Symptoms from the leptomengeneal have significantly reduced and some have completely gone away! Praise God Almighty!!!

  • Due to the severity of side effects overall, Mom will skip this round and go back at the next scheduled date which is in three weeks. They are reducing the dosage to alleviate her intense side effects and increase her quality of life.

  • Blood panels look really good with the cancer marker having reduced nearly 50% from last visit!

These results deserve a mighty praise to God!! For without Him none of this is possible!

With all these great things that God is doing and we are claiming He will continue to do. The medicine does leave Mom very weak and tired more days than not. We take each day as it presents itself.

Mom is adjusting to what her body needs and resting her expectations. We value each moment we get and are doing our best to keep her as rested and comfortable as she needs and her body allows. We will update you again in a few weeks.

Thank you once again, may God continue to bless your lives as you continue to bless ours!

“I have Loved you” says the Lord.
