My name is Kristi. I created this fundraiser in hopes to help my niece and sister. Please, take a moment to read her story.
My sister, Brandi, is one of the strongest, bravest, single mothers I know. Her beautiful, spunky, ray of sunshine Haley will soon be 7. She is what we refer to as a heart warrior. At such a young age, Haley was diagnosed with SVT, autonomic dysfunction, sensory processing, wandering atrial pacemaker, and Vasovagal syncope.
She has been in and out of the hospital numerous times over the past few years dealing with her heart issues. She has had her ablation done in June 2022, which usually doesn't happen until her teens, but they couldn't wait until then. The episodes began returning by Thanksgiving that year. Therefore the treatment didn't work as planned.
Haley's biggest battle at this point is her autonomic dysfunction. Keeping her hydrated and all of its symptoms in check becomes overwhelming. She struggles with body temperature regulation, blood circulation issues, and intestinal issues. Which in return has called for her to be on a strict special diet.
Brandi has missed work on numerous occasions to be there and care for Haley through all of this. Times have become hard and Brandi is really struggling to keep up with bills, gas for transportation, the expensive diet Haley has been subjected to, the cost of heart monitors, etc.
About a month ago, my sister broke her ankle. She was placed on leave by her job until her physical therapist and doctor clear her for work. She doesn't have a job that provides leave, sick time, or anything of the type. She has exhausted FMLA as well. Rent is due again and her funds are depleted. She's even had to put off physical therapy due to no funds to afford the co-pay.
This week the physical therapist confirmed her ankle is not healing as planned and now she needs a MRI and has been ordered to stay out of work longer. Her job is now deciding if they are going to continue to hold her job for her or let her go. Brandi has very limited health insurance for herself to be sure she has the coverage needed for Haley.
We've reached out to friends, family, non-profits, churches, etc. We're very thankful for the help received, however the hardship is far from over. There are things Brandi needs and goes without just to be sure Haley has everything she needs.
