Help Safeguard My Child's Future And Freedom

Today would be the day that I would normally have to have my child return to her primary residence.

Today she is creating artwork in her decorated bedroom anticipating her first school year in the city.

I wish this could just be our peace in this moment; however, her dad has filed contempt charges on me for activating my mama bear instincts and advocating for her overall well being and safety.

I now have to appear in court in South Dakota in September to respond to "contempt."

With that being said the attorney I had initially hired this week is now recommending I find alternate representation to save me money as a single mom and student. Especially since I have not reached my $5k retainer goal. But I'm halfway there!

(I know, it's like 3 steps forward 2 steps back.)

When I got this email correspondence I felt totally gutted but not for long because I do trust in a power greater than myself in this matter. I trust a timeline outside of my window of control. And you know what, all of you who have added to support myself and my child over the past 12 years of co-parenting with my abuser have shown me just how strong together community can be.
