Tiny Warrior

In June of this year, my Grandson Grant just three years old, complained that his arms hurt only to be told there is nothing wrong. In July he said his legs hurt and after X-rays again said nothing was wrong. By mid July he stopped walking. August 3rd our hearts were broken to learn that Grant had B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Two days later they stated chemo. Spending over a week in Children's hospital we quickly realized this is more than we can handle on our own. Moving forward with treatment, Grant's body could not metabolize his chemo, so the side effects not only kept Grant from walking again he stopped moving all together. Thank God for our doctors who quickly gave Grant what he needed to take the side effect pain away and got Grant into physical therapy. Grant is not walking yet but he is sitting up for short periods of time. The treatment for his leukemia is long and we all know chemo is hard. There are three different chemos. Seven months of aggressive chemo followed by two and half years of maintenance chemo. Grant has on average three days a week of appointments.
