Please, any amount of money can help us bring justice for my daughter, Brittany, and her unborn baby, Sevyn, and help us with travel and funeral expenses. Any proceeds will go to her surviving children. This fundraiser is not for personal gain. Victim services only gives a minimum amount for court or travel, and doesn't cover getting her stuff or anything not related to the murder.

On February 28, 2025, Brittany's body was found in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, near the apartment where she was staying, and it was ruled a homicide. We have since learned that she died of blunt force trauma, and she was 19-weeks pregnant with a baby boy. She left behind 3 children: 18, 4, and just shy of 2 years old at the time of her death. They now have to learn to live without the woman that provided them life. We need your help to ensure her and her baby’s killer is brought to justice, and the system that ignored her and took advantage of her answers for their neglect and abuse. Her 18-year-old daughter and I need legal representation, as well as money to cover the cost of her memorial and cremation, and to attend the trial of her alleged killer.

For over two years, we notified police that Brittany was an AT RISK ADULT and in serious danger, fearing for her life. They ignored us and Brittany’s pleas that she was being drugged against her will. She birthed two children before that, which were put into the foster system and eventually adopted without anyone in the family being notified or given the chance to take care of them, which is illegal. We believe that Brittany is among countless other women who are victims of sex trafficking. Iowa is the third largest sex trafficking state in the country

Please help us bring justice for Brittany and her unborn son, expose the corrupt system, and reunite her babies that she tried to join together up until her last moments, and give her the dignity in death that she so deserved in life, but was ripped away from her.

Her alleged killer has a history of crime, many involving women:

Please help support Brittany Hopkins children.  Her oldest daughter is trying to attend Grand Canyon University in August.

Please see the update on the perpetrator who's plea deal resulted in a sentence. No past criminal history was given to the judge or myself nor was it considered in any of his deals made with the courts.

Brittany's oldest daughter graduated with two scholarships for a total of $4,000 and this is wonderful. However she is the first in her family to go to college and very low income. She needs help. She needs a car and if anyone could please share and donate it would help. She worked 💪 hard to graduate under these circumstances.  Please know any and all donations will help.

This man was repeatedly violent.  24 cases against him and violent behavior of which The State of Iowa released him to go on to murder my daughter.  Please please share. She didn't deserve this! No one does.

In this scenario, the state could face liability, potentially including lawsuits, if it can be proven that the authorities' actions, or inactions, regarding the individual's multiple releases and prior charges contributed to the pregnant woman's murder.
Here's a breakdown of potential legal avenues and considerations:
Negligence/Failure to Protect:
If the state had a duty to protect the public from this individual, and its actions or omissions (like repeated releases despite a history of violent crime) breached that duty, leading to the pregnant woman's death, the state could be held liable for negligence or failure to protect.
Civil Rights Violations:
Depending on the circumstances, the state's actions could be viewed as violating the victim's constitutional rights, potentially leading to a civil rights lawsuit.
Supervisory Liability:
If the state's officials (like judges, parole board members, or law enforcement) made decisions that were demonstrably reckless or negligent in releasing the offender, they could face individual liability.
Duty of Care:
The state has a duty of care to its citizens, and if it failed to adequately supervise or protect the public from a known danger, it could be held responsible for the harm caused.
Unborn Victims of Violence Act:
While the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (UVVA) focuses on federal law, it's relevant because it addresses the legal status of an unborn child in the context of violent crimes.

Mens Rea:
In the context of murder, "mens rea" refers to the mental state of the offender at the time of the crime. In the case of a murder, the mens rea is "malice aforethought".
In summary, the state could be held liable if it is proven that its actions or inaction in managing the individual's releases and prior charges directly contributed to the pregnant woman's murder, potentially through negligence, civil rights violations, or a breach of its duty of care to protect its citizens.

Please know this fundraiser is NOT for profit as people are posting! I'm low income, so are her children.  Victims Services requires you pay first and only allows limited funds. This is a huge financial burden.

My daughter was murdered.  Her children will have all funds left from expenses put in savings for their future. Her oldest is 18 and wanting to attend college! She needs these funds to continue her dream as she was present and witnessed everything that caused this situation to spiral out of control. She is studying Law!

All the disparaging comments made on trash magazine sights are by those who have no knowledge of what actually was going on. I fought 5 years for my daughter to get the support she needed and the system failed her and yes she's had responsibility also,  however she was a mentally at risk adult! She and other trafficked individuals have their choice taken repeatedly,  and she did do everything they told her to do and as most know most still are failed!

Educate yourself on all the forms of trafficking before you comment. You were NOT involved once you couldn’t use her anymore. Myself and her grandmother were the only people involved religiously supporting her.
