The Allah Youth Center in Mecca Revitalization Project (“Project”) is a repair, restoration, and redevelopment “plan”. We are launching several Capital Campaigns to accomplish various short and long-term goals. The project's initial phase aims to revitalize the structural integrity of our current building while simultaneously progressing our plans to construct a supplemental building for assembly, grow our financial reserves, and build a modern facility on the site.
Currently, New York City holds the deed to the site; however, we have been the de facto owners of the site for the past 55 years.
The financial support obtained will enable us to have structural plans prepared and filed with the New York City Department of Buildings and then engage a qualified contractor who will execute the structural improvements. This phase of the Campaign will continue through 2024.
While the structural improvements are ongoing, the Nation will begin working on an overall Development Plan for the site. Architect Rodney Leon and his team will assist us with a master plan for our site and will develop architectural floor plans and visual renderings for the design of a new building, with a restored and expanded Allah Youth Center in Mecca building as its centerpiece! Working alongside developer Carlton Brown and his team, he will assist us with determining the best use and space allocation for the development that will assure its financial sustainability. At that point, we will collectively present our conceptual plan to the NYC Mayor's Office seeking their overall support for our project.
By way of background, the Allah Youth Center in Mecca building was awarded to the 5% Nation, by the City of New York in 1967
