Albert Fredric Prud’homme passed away on March 7, 2026 in  Lexington, South Carolina.

Born in New Rochelle, New York, Albert was the beloved son of Albert Ovilla Prud’homme and Rita Rose Moshier Prud’homme. Al grew up surrounded by a large and loving family and remained closely connected to his siblings throughout his life. He is survived by his daughter, Alicia Hazzard and two grandsons, Jace and Silas, sisters and brothers: Catherine Wiker of Olathe, Kansas; Robert Prud’homme (Michelle) of Ferndale, Michigan; Charles Prud’homme (Kim) of Lexington, South Carolina; and Margaret Smith (Charles) of Killeen, Texas, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, James (Ali) Hazzard, sister, Harriet Prud’homme, brother-in-law David Wiker and his beloved daughter, Cherilyn Jane Crawford.

Al’s unwavering devotion to family was his greatest achievement. Though he loved his career as a financial planner, the role he treasured most in life was that of a father and grandfather. He was deeply devoted to his daughter, Ali, and found immense joy in being a grandfather to his two cherished grandsons, Silas and Jace, who brought endless pride and happiness to his life.

Prior to the death of his son-in-law, James D. Hazzard III, Al relocated to Lexington, South Carolina, so he could live close to Ali and the boys. In doing so, he stepped further into the role he valued most: being present for his family and constantly offering guidance, support, and love.

Al will be remembered for his loyalty to those he loved and the quiet kindness he showed to everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the many lives touched by his generosity, humor, and unwavering devotion.

Al earned the rank of Eagle Scout which is Scoutings highest rank and achieved the status of Vigil Honor in Scouting’s elite group-Order of the Arrow.  The Vigil Honor is the Order’s highest recognition, honoring Arrowmen for exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest in the lodge, council, and scouting, often characterized by alertness to the needs of others.  He continued to support scouting through service to his grandson Jace’s Cub Scout Den.

Albert attended Belmont Abbey College prior to being drafted into the army. He will be remembered fondly by his brothers of Alpha Psi Epsilon. He then attended Mercer University and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Al served his country and was awarded the  National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal and Army Commendation Medal.

One of his favorite past times was playing Golf. Al could be found several times per week playing golf with his friends and cherished those friendships greatly.  He often played in tournaments. He also enjoyed time at the beach and was sure to plan a family trip for his children every year.

A graveside service will be held May 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and celebrating his life. Due to time limits at the cemetery, we will continue his celebration of life at Savage Craft Brewery from 1pm-3pm. Appetizers will be provided with an option to purchase drinks and lunch.
