Hello!
I'm raising funds for the premiere of TRYHARD, my first evening-length self-produced solo dance work, in New York City in October 2024.
Producing and performing this work is thrilling, scary, challenging and exciting. With everything that is going on in the world, art feels more important than ever in bringing people together. I believe the role of art and performance is to create a space to be messy. To be bold and ask questions. To take risks and embrace failure, and to engage and strengthen our collective understanding towards empathy and our shared human experience. With this dance work, I’m trying to do just that.

The performance will run Oct 18,19,20 at Kestrels, an artist lead studio and performance space in Gowanus, Brooklyn. I have been developing this work for the last year--and--a-half with numerous work-in-progress showings. Now, as I embark on this fully realized version and take on the immense endeavor of self-producing, I am asking for the financial support of my community to help pay my collaborators, cover the production and design elements and bring this performance work to fruition.
TRYHARD is a dance. It is a practice in exposing a forbidden sense of self and allowing it to grow inside the room. It is about becoming and letting go and the endless search for who we are and what we want to be.

While this is a solo dance work, it does not get made singularly. I’m excited to bring together brilliant, talented collaborators I deeply admire to develop this work. I am collaborating with artists Angel Zinovieff to create a rich sonic landscape and Cameron Barnett, who is skillfully illuminating the performance with lighting. Our hope is to design a transportive, sensorial environment for the work and audience to live inside of.
I am immensely grateful to Katie Workum for giving me the opportunity to present my work in this gorgeous, truly special space. A home for the work is imperative and while Kestrels is providing this essential resource,
I’m raising $5,500 to pay the people behind this project (my collaborators, production/tech crew, videographer and photographer), sound rental equipment, and rehearsal space fees.
Thank you for considering this ask and for being a part of my community. We need each other more than ever. Your contribution to this project will play a large part in how the work gets made.
