Julie suffered an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) in July 2008, an event that brought many together in support of 'Team Julie' as she fought for her life and relearned how to eat, speak, etc. After living on her own for a short while, she moved in with our parents, Nancy and Joe Legner, to their condo in Cold Spring, Kentucky, where she has called home for the past 13+ years.
On Saturday, May 10th, our mother suffered a heart attack and has been hospitalized ever since. This event has shifted the dynamics--and the housing needs--of all involved. Julie will need a wheelchair accessible unit and has some ideas about where she'd like to live, probably someplace "north" / Michigan. She has other criteria she'd like to find such as good public transit and other things.
All of this is tough to find when time is not of the essence. It's impossible to do so when everyone is crunched for time and Nancy and Joe need care and focus.
This campaign is to support Julie's exploration of finding "the right place"...to buy her some time to do the research and hopefully take some extended stays in some of the communities she is considering for longer term.
Contributions in any amount are appreciated. We need to make this happen pretty quickly and expect it could take months for her to find a place. Any amount will let her know she is supported, loved and valued. This is not the way any of us would have chosen for her to take this step, but it's the best we can do under the current circumstances.
