My name is Don Lovingood, and my wife and I have been married for 20 years. We’re raising six sons, and everything in my life has always been about being there for them—showing up, providing, and being the father they can count on.

That changed after a car accident left me paralyzed from the waist down.

Since then, every day has become a challenge. The smallest things—getting out of bed, moving safely, even leaving the house—now require help and equipment we don’t have yet.

One moment I can’t shake… my youngest son recently asked me to come outside and play with him. Before the accident, I would’ve been the first one out the door. This time, I had to sit there and tell him I couldn’t go—not because I didn’t want to, but because I physically couldn’t get there safely.

He looked at me, confused, and said, “It’s okay, Dad… I’ll just play and come back.”

And I just sat there… listening to my kids play outside without me.

That’s when it really hit me how much has changed.

I’m asking for help because I’m trying to get the equipment that will allow me to live safely and be present for my family again:

- Hoyer Lift: $2,500–$5,000
- Medical Supplies (ongoing care): $300–$800/month
- Wheelchair-Accessible Mobility Van: $25,000–$60,000

These aren’t luxuries. They’re what make it possible for me to move safely, reduce the physical strain on my wife, and get to my medical appointments.

Right now, my wife is carrying more than anyone should have to, and I’m doing everything I can to stay strong for her and for our boys. I don’t want to just watch their lives from the sidelines—I want to be in them.

If you’re able to give, thank you. If not, sharing this would still mean everything to us.

I truly appreciate you taking the time to read our story.

My name is Don Lovingood, and I’m a husband and father of six boys. My life changed in an instant when I was the victim of a robbery and assault that left me paralyzed from the waist down.

Since that day, everything has been about learning how to live again—physically, mentally, and financially—while still showing up for my family.

I now need reliable, accessible transportation to get to my doctor appointments, ongoing care, and to continue pursuing something that’s helping me rebuild—stand-up comedy. I’ve started performing, and even though I can’t stand up, I’m still finding a way to stand in purpose and provide for my family.

I’m asking for help to cover medical expenses, transportation, and daily support as we adjust to this new reality. Every contribution, no matter the size, truly makes a difference for us.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give.
