The morning of March 30th, PAAU Director of Activism Lauren Handy was arrested and detained by the FBI in connection with a Rescue that happened two years ago in Washington D.C. at the Washington Surgi-Center, a notorious late-term abortion clinic. She has been charged along with 8 others for violating the FACE Act, an outdated anti-life law targeted at pro-life activists attempting to rescue unborn children from certain death. All of the defendants are currently facing conspiracy charges related to the direct action.
Due to the law enforcement presence outside her home, as well as the national coverage, Lauren has been asked to move out of her apartment. She desperately needs help covering legal fees and housing.
Rescuers like Lauren and the other 8 defendants are inspiring a whole new generation of activists to overcome their fears of sanctions and to take heroic direct action on behalf of the unborn. Civil rights activists have historically engaged in direct action tactics to bring about justice for the oppressed.
