Tues, November 26. : Hi everyone, Woofy is doing ok but he is definitely struggling with the front leg amputation that we were trying to prevent due to his age and weight. He is not able to stand for a long time but he is being very sweet. We still need help to cover the Last $4000 deficit at his vet clinic so we can then take him back for a reassessment and start working on prosthetics.
This Giving Tuesday, we are requesting donations to help with Woofy's vet bill - we. have been very fortunate that yall have been so generous and we could raise a substantial amount. If you can please help us cover the rest of what we owe, that will be very very genereous of you- we rely completely on your donations and hope that we can get some shares and help.
He is such a good boy and it breaks our heart that he is struggling but on a good news, he is going through heartworm treatment and doing very well with it now. He is such a loving sweet pup, who had no idea what being taken care of, is But slowly learning.
Thank you for helping us save his life and working with us to give him a stable future, so that he can find his beautiful forever home.

Thursday, Aug 29 - today is one week from his surgery and Woofy came to us with so many bruises and inflammation that Dr. Hanson, his orthopedic surgeon was unable to see through all the fractures and broken bones.
Now that the bruises have been healing, he could do another xray yesterday and informed us that, to avoid amputation, we have to put another plate to hold the first plate, as it has luxated out of position due to him moving so much. He said we can ride it out with one plate and see if it works but he will have to be amputated if it doesn't work, but he feels that his chances of saving the leg increases if he can put the second plate.
Dr H also observed that Woofy is not used to people taking care of him and that’s why he is having a difficult time eating or resting while in kennel.
The estimate for the second surgery is below. We are desperately seeking help with this and we hope yall will join us in our mission to help Woofy have a chance.
Thank you so much!

Update : Monday 8/26 : Woofy got up and walked out of kennel but sat right outside, as his nurse cleaned his kennel. He was grumpy today from all the pain and the bruises. It will be a while before he can feel himself. He is still not eating, but we are hopeful once the pain is gone, he will be able to eat. He also does not seem to be familiar with dog food, and had eaten wet cat food at Pearland vet So we are going to now try that. Please continue to share his fundraiser so he can get the help he needs, as we will have a long road to recovery

Update : Woofy had his surgery yesterday, Thurs, 8/22. However. the surgery was more complicated than expected, as the location was bad and Dr. H saw more pieces than what appeared on the xray. Therefore he was concerned that the surgery may fail. We requested to save his leg and if it doesn't heal at all, then we agreed to consider amputation. But since we have been able to raise funds, we decided to give him a chance to keep his leg. He had a successful surgery last night.
His nurse reached out to us to request that we hold him with them for monitoring until Tuesday, as they are still afraid that the surgery has been very challenging and any wrong move can make it fail. Since he is not eating, he will also need injectable meds and pain meds. We truly think that will be a determining factor. It will cost us $1100 more. The estimate is below. If 110 people can donate $10, it will add up.
We really hope we can help this sweet boy get back to life and know how inside living feels, and how being a companion pet feels. We hope we can raise this fund.

Woofy has politely allowed to be petted, even while in excruciating pain. He was overheated from staying in the back of the car and in the yard, but despite his condition, he was not aggressive or reactive. He had to be sedated to get his xray done, and the images were immediately sent to Dr. Hanson at Nederland, one of the best in his profession whom we trust immensely. Dr. H concluded that the fracture is in the humerus at the elbow and involves the cartilage in the joint. There are also multiple broken pieces that make it a complicated surgery. The estimate is below.

If the repair surgery is not done within a day or two, he will need to amputate his arm.
