As many of you know Jeni is battling both breast and lymph node cancer. While this is daunting enough with chemo, home injections and surgery she is also facing medical bills. Despite having insurance the co-pays for chemo and meds are incredibly high and her deductible will roll over in January before her treatment is done. She won't ask for help a terrible Gen-X trait, but I am! She really needs it so she can focus on getting healthy and not trying to work through all of it. Jeni successfully had 2 surgeries, Friday, March 8th, a mascetomy and 2 lymphnodes removed. Unfortunately, the 3rd lymphnode is still cancerous so it had to stay. This probably means more chemo and 2 to 3 surgeries but right now she needs to recover from 8 hours of surgery. She is so tough and is learning to use her left arm as the right one has to be immobile for 3 weeks. PT will happen in 4 weeks.

Yesterday Jeni hit a major milestone, her last chemo treatment after almost 6 months of treatment! Next up is her mascetomy and radiation but now she gets to focus on some much needed recovery time so her body is ready for surgery. Thanks for all your support which literally helped her survive as state disability is still not paying out. Don't get sick or have a baby in California!

We have good news and not as fun news...the good news is the chemo is working and keeping the cancer from spreading. This is huge and exactly what we needed to hear as it is difficult going weekly.
The bad news is they added treatments so now Jeni has 2 more months of weekly treatments BUT that is if Kaiser can get her on a schedule. Today we are on a waiting list which is frustrating and scary for lots of reasons.
Jeni is also working part time so it is important they work with her days off. To add to all this neither SDI (government disability) or her work have paid her for over a month. Any donations will help relieve this added stress.

I wanted to share an update as there was definitely some confusion on Jeni's oncologist's part. Originally she told us there were 4 more sessions of chemo spread over 4 months. Shockingly, it is actually weekly chemo for 4 months! The unbelievable lack of communication means Jeni is back to work this up coming week as she had planned to have weeks to recover in between. Hopefully, she can get this sorted out and get some more leave but for now it means going to work. Meanwhile, she is being a trooper despite the overwhelming schedule and being disappointed she has more time to spend at Kaiser.
We can't than you enough for all your support during this very long 6 months. We are almost to the 20k goal thanks to all of you! Please feel free to share.

Third session of the "red devil" done for Jeni with 1 more to go and than so called regular chemo for 4 months and surgery. Looking to be done in March. Unfortunately, Jeni did lose all her hair after the 2nd session despite new technology but all the amazing support had been deeply touching to all of us and is keeping her going. Each session takes a bigger toll on her mentally and physically so can't thank everyone enough for money and goodies. Amazing how everyone knows what she likes from books to crystals and candy!
