A $5 donation can help vulnerable asylum-seeking populations in the North of Costa Rica. The increasing persecution of all who oppose the Nicaraguan dictatorship has forced thousands to flee to save their lives.
Many families are left with only a small backpack and have nothing. Last week we distributed some food and school supplies. There is still a need for hygiene products, food, clothing, shoes, tents, blankets, and other items of basic necessity for rural families with little access to services.
We are asking for small donations to purchase items in Costa Rica such as soap, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene kits, shampoo, socks, bandaids, Neosporin for wound care, and basic food staples.
Items will be distributed by community leaders, service organizations, and student groups. Donations are for Nicaraguan migrants living in squatter camps, Nicaraguans without shelter who are just arriving in Costa Rica, and transnational migrants crossing the Costa Rican border on their way to North America.
