Harley is a 2 year 8 month old golden retriever that just 3 weeks ago, had a grape size bump on her head that her veterinarian thought was a hematoma (pocket filled with blood). Over the next several weeks, something innocent looking became my sister and her fiancé’s absolute worse nightmare. After multiple ER visits, a CT, and an oncologist consultation, Harley was diagnosed with most likely a MTB (multilobular tumor of the bone) behind her left eye. After about $4,000, my sister and her fiancé have to make the tough decision to continue seeking further care and see if there is a chance for Harley (which will cost thousands more) or to let her go just 6 months before their wedding. As her older sister, it pains me that I can’t take her pain away, but I would like to take the financial burden away if I can. Due to a company wide workforce reduction, my sister lost her job this year and in the past month, their roof started to leak and had to be replaced. With all this, I want to help them make a decision that is best for them and Harley without having to worry about the cost they have already put into finding an answer.
