My Leap Across the Pond
Just noting that the current political circumstances of my country are not the driver of this move - the same primal thing that had me fall in love with the idea as a kid is - but it is the larger part of why I feel urgent about doing this right now: in order to begin a teaching job abroad - and being older and in more than one oppressed class - I need the safety, time, and mental and physical health support that I do not have in the States.
I am also looking for some joy and peace in my personal and work life, and spending what I have left of it in a place I love, doing work I love, with amazing new students, colleagues and friends, is the road I'm taking.
See below for specifics (What work will you do? Why 5K?), and/or contact me anytime with questions 🙂
Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
Cheers,
Catherine :)

My primary goals in France are to take an immersive course for A2 certification in French, and to get a job teaching English. I also want to use my love for being useful & helpful for some supplementary work:
- Tutoring: Helping local English learners of all kinds
- Concierge Orientation Service: Help English-speaking tourists, travelers, and fellow immigrants navigate the Grand Est, making their visits or transitions smoother and more enjoyable.
Why $5K?
In order to qualify for my Student visa, I need proof that my first 6-months' stay is paid. 5K covers that + health insurance. This is the largest item on that list of things I must have covered before I leave, and saving for it has been...oof, just *hard*. I'm urgently hoping to expedite things, especially given political strife and travel advisories everywhere right now.
Please consider donating and sharing my story with anyone who might be interested in supporting my giant hop across The Pond.
My deepest gratitude for your kindness and belief in my endeavor.
Merci beaucoup!
