On Wednesday,August 26th 2026 we were at Norwin Tire, planning to get new tires for my father-in-law's car. What should have been a routine errand turned into chaos. We thought the car was in park, but it wasn’t. My husband tried to stop it, but the car rolled over him before crashing into a pole down the street. Although no one else was injured, the event left us shaken and anxious about our future.
Here in Jeannette, our van is essential. It's old, struggling with a failing transmission and a bad catalytic converter, but we depend on it for everything. After the accident, it became clear just how unreliable it is. Facing everyday responsibilities feels impossible without dependable transportation.
Asking for help isn't easy for me. I've always valued being self-sufficient. But in this situation, I'm reaching out because it feels like the only option. Admitting our struggles feels vulnerable, but I hold onto the hope that we can find strength through the kindness of others.
