Living in Jean, Nevada has always felt like being part of a close-knit community. But now, my family and many others are facing an unexpected crisis: the closure of Primm Valley Resort. We've just been told that we have to leave by July 6, 2026. It's hard to describe the wave of anxiety that washed over us when we received the notice, knowing we had less than 60 days to pack up our lives and find somewhere new to call home.
The biggest hurdle is meeting the rental requirements in Las Vegas, where the cost of living is significantly higher. We need to earn twice the monthly rent to even be considered for a place. This is particularly challenging as we are not only searching for new jobs but are also struggling to keep up with our current expenses. Affinity Gaming continues to charge rent during this transition time, leaving us in a precarious financial position.
The sense of uncertainty is overwhelming, but what keeps me going is the support of friends and family. Every conversation sparks a bit of hope, a reminder that we're not alone in this. It means everything to lean on each other as we navigate the stress of finding new jobs and securing a future for our children. We're staying strong, though, and focusing on the small victories as we work toward building a new life.
