Hello, I’m Ian, and I’m reaching out to ask for support on behalf of Mike and John in Kampala, Uganda.
These pictures of Mike and John were forwarded to me by a friend in Uganda, and the story is, they had been sent back home from school one sunny morning turned back at the gate because their fees hadn't been paid. That's how their story reached me, and why I had these photos to share.
Their parents work hard to afford what their children need, but it isn't always enough. Sometimes the fees just aren't ready in time and when that happens, it's Mike and John who pay the price, missing class and falling behind.
Even that day, with no school to walk into, the two best friends found a reason to smile playing a little hand pinching game together on the road home. But behind the playfulness was a harder truth. John's uniform is faded and worn thin, and both boys are caught in a quiet struggle to stay in school when fees, uniforms, and distance keep getting in the way.
They don't need much to keep moving forward,
New uniforms, so they're never turned away or embarrassed in class
Help with school fees, so they're never sent home again
A small bicycle each, to turn a long, tiring walk into a safe, quick ride to school
Basic school supplies, the small tools that make learning possible
That morning, two boys walked home instead of walking into their classroom yet still found a moment to laugh together. It's stayed with me, and it's why I'm asking for your help.
Every contribution no matter the size, matters. Help Mike and John, and the parents fighting for their future, get back to where they belong in school, learning, and dreaming without interruption.
