Mike was hit in the eye with a piece of wire Wednesday night July 7th around 8:45. After a visit at the ER that ultimately did nothing, we got ahold of our AMAZING Optometrist. Through all the pain and a difficult time dilating the eye to try and see the extent of the damage she chose to call a college. We were able to get into a Eye surgeon. Once we arrived in the office she immediately was concerned. He was told DO NOT touch your eye, I'm almost 100% sure the wire completely punctured your eye. She did a few tests and was a Globe Rupture. She scheduled him for emergency eye surgery. Had the wire his a different direction is would have deflated and there would be a worse outcome. We were sent to Wesley for the surgery that included 6 sutures in the eye and an injection of antibiotics. We followed up the next day to learn that his Retina had been cut and was WAY to close to the Macula. He then went back to their procedure room for laser eye surgery. As LUCKY as he is, he faces many more questions and battles. We are still looking for infection and lose of vision. We're no where near out of the woods. My husband would do anything for anyone. And if you know him, you know how true this is. If you are able to spare ANYTHING it would help tremendously. We have very high bills coming in and he doesn't have insurance. I'm praying that the kindness this man shows can be returned. Please continue to pray for his long journey.
