I am the author of the book "Black Moms Can " (BMC) dedicated to developing economic opportunities for Black families and their communities, with 12 groups in the US and an expanding group in Africa.
Our BMC Uganda has been at the forefront of improving internet accessibility and digital literacy to bridge the digital divide for many underserved communities in Uganda. Building on these accomplishments, we are launching a new project focused on expanding bandwidth and internet access across the country.
The Need: With less than 40% internet penetration rate in Uganda and lower figures in rural areas, the digital divide is an urgent issue. Limited bandwidth, expensive data costs, and limited access to digital devices exacerbate this divide. This situation hinders access to information, education, and economic opportunities that are increasingly found online, putting those without internet access at a distinct disadvantage.
The Project : Improve Infrastructure, and provide affordable cost-effective data packages for low-income households and communities. Train Community Members to organize training sessions on digital literacy.
Allow Monitor and Evaluate to develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to assess the impact of the project and inform future initiatives.
BMC Uganda is eager to take on this challenge of reducing the digital divide and promoting digital inclusion in Uganda. With your support, we can ensure that more Ugandans have access to the vast array of resources and opportunities that the Internet has to offer. We are excited about the potential impact of this project and look forward to your generous support.
Thank you.
