My sweet little Hammy is currently at the emergency vet- 3rd visit in 2 weeks.
Ham has been having back pain, causing him to scream and yelp in distress. It has been awful to see him in this much pain. They have tried different meds and he does okay for about 2 days and then he is back to severe pain and unable to get comfortable. I’ve been sleeping on the floor with him and doing everything I can to help.
Ham is currently at Pinnacle emergency vet in Glen Mills, PA. The message from the neurologist on staff states:

Hi - The plan we are
recommending for Ham is to proceed with MRI of his thoracolumbar spine this morning followed by a hemilaminectomy surgical procedure if needed after seeing the results of MRI. We have to have an MRI of his back pre-surgery to know where we would need to do surgery and also confirm a true disc herniation that is the cause of his pain. I'm sending the estimate form for MRI alone as well as surgery with hospitalization.

The new estimate for mri, surgery and hospitalization is 10,000-12000 (not great)
Although I do have some savings this is quite a large and unexpected amount to be hit with. I spend every second of my free time helping at a dog rescue and doing everything I can to help pups and now I’m needing help myself.
Any help would be greatly appreciated- Ham is only 2yrs old and deserves the best life.
