Hello!
My name is Tahira Gilyard and I am vying for the title of Miss New York for the Miss America Opportunity on June 25-27, 2026 at Rockland Community College!
Miss America is a historical pageant that has provided millions of dollars in scholarships since 1945 so that women throughout the United States can have the financial relief necessary to focus on their service and success. As a former foster child who has beaten so many odds to become my family’s first attorney and start a career in family defense, my community service initiative is called “Foster C.A.R.E”—with every pun intended!
My mission is to step outside of the courtroom and directly into group homes and the offices of our legislators to help New York foster the care that our foster youth deserve! Voting for me for People's Choice is a vote for hope for New York’s most vulnerable: our foster children.
THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE WINNER IS GUARANTEED A PLACE IN THE SEMI FINAL COMPETITION and will be one step closer to the Miss New York title. All funds will be used to help the Miss New York organization support women just like me as we strive for success!
