Who is Amensisa Ifa?
Amenisa Ifa is one of the most prominent Oromo Cinematographer and director. He directed several award winning music videos, one of which is the late Hachalu Hundessa’s ‘Maalan Jira?, which was a sound track of the Oromo protest. He has been fearlessly producing music videos that contributed a lot to the Oromo people’s struggle. Among his recent works are Etika Teferi’s ‘Galma Dhugaa’ and Gelana Garomsa’s ‘Wal Agarra’. Besides all these he is the main reason that we have Hachalu’s Album ‘Maal Mallisaa’ at our hands. He tirelessly worked to compile the songs and he has been organising the event on which the album was released.
Why fundraising?
All of Amensisa’s music video’s are shot by a rented equipments including Camera. He edits them in his living room. And every time he travels out of town to see locations for his music videos, he travels with a rented car. We wanted to do this fundraising for two main reasons. First, we want Amensisa to develop his profession, uncover his talents, produce as many music videos, documentaries etc, without worrying for equipments. In this case we believe we are doing favor not for Amensisa but for the Oromo art. Second, we want to say thank you for his immense contribution for Oromo art. By doing this we’ll develop the culture of giving recognition and saying thank you to someone who has contributed for his people.
What do we need?
We need to set a fully equipped modern studio for Amensisa in Finfinne. That includes purchase of all equipments and at least cover on year rental fee of the studio space.
